| The Kentucky Humane Society's Animal Rescue Department was established to better serve and care for neglected, abused and at-risk animals.
Though known for our programs in Metro Louisville, KHS also has rescue services in Henry, Trimble and Spencer counties. Contracted by the respective county governments to handle animal ordinance enforcement and cruelty investigation, KHS rescue officers find some of our more extreme cases in these outlying areas. Each year, we admit more than 1,000 animals from Henry, Spencer and Trimble counties, many of which were returned to their owners, adopted out or released to a wildlife rehabilitator.
KHS does not have the legal jurisdiction
to handle animal cruelty/neglect enforcement and investigation within
Metro Louisville. Metro Animal Services, located on Manslick Road, is the government agency
that handles these cases. They also are responsible for picking
up stray animals in the Metro Louisville area. Their phone number is (502) 363-6609.
