S.N.I.P. Clinic
| The Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) has big plans for the future. We’re taking steps toward initiatives that will make Louisville and surrounding areas a better place for our four-legged friends & those who love them.
With your help, KHS will reach our goal of $800,000 to accomplish these vital initiatives.
To make a donation in support of these efforts, contact the Community Relations Director at (502) 515-3131.
The All New S.N.I.P. Clinic
KHS is raising $400,000 over the next year for the S.N.I.P. Clinic, a regional spay/neuter clinic with a focus on serving low-income families. The S.N.I.P. Clinic, which opened in February 2007, will perform 6,000 low-cost surgeries a year, as well as provide free transportation for pets to and from surrounding counties within a 75-mile radius. The funds will be used to provide:
- $100,000 for the renovation of the existing building.
- $200,000 for first-year operations. (The clinic will be self-sustaining beyond year one.)
- $100,000 for financial assistance for families unable to afford
spay/neuter services for their pets.
Regional Transportation Program
In support of the S.N.I.P. Clinic, KHS is raising $100,000 to offer transportation to and from the site for pet owners without transportation of their own. Pets will be picked up at sites around metro Louisville and at pre-selected sites in outlying counties, taken to surgery and dropped off the next day. Getting your pet fixed has never been so simple.
Increased Educational Awareness
By educating our community about responsible pet ownership, KHS can reduce the number of pets needing shelter services. A goal of raising $200,000 will be invested in the following:
- $50,000 on partnerships with local and regional animal care professionals to enhance the KHS Career Discovery Camp
- $50,000 toward expanding the KHS Animal Adventure Camp to several locations throughout Kentucky, including proposed in-school training sites
- $100,000 for a training program for problem pets with the aim of rehabilitation and placement in permanent and loving homes
Increased Regional Awareness
KHS will develop a targeted communication campaign for the S.N.I.P. Clinic to spread the mission of KHS to a broader audience beyond Louisville. We are earmarking $100,000 for the campaign goal to support this effort.
