NEUTER-A-THON to End Catcalls

July 14, 2008 (Louisville, Ky.)  Summertime means kitten season. So, if you have a young male cat at your house, NOW is the time to think about getting him neutered. To help make that easier, KHS is hosting a “Neuter-a-Thon” at the S.N.I.P. Clinic on Saturday, July 26, where the first 100 male felines will be neutered at a special rate of just $10.

  • The Kentucky Humane Society is offering this “at-cost” $10 fee to motivate pet owners to get their cats altered sooner, rather than later. That’s because, neutering your male kitten before he reaches 6 months of age is ideal, before he starts spraying to mark his territory or spends his nights “on the prowl.”

What’s more, an altered pet leads a longer, healthier life. In fact, neutered cats can live an average of 3 to 5 years longer because they are less likely to roam and get into fights, while they also have a lowered risk for contracting certain diseases and developing cancer.

Clinic appointments are required and can be made by calling the S.N.I.P. Clinic at (502) 636-FIX1. Low cost vaccinations are also available at the time of surgery. Neuter surgeries typically cost $35 at the S.N.I.P. Clinic.

MORE INFORMATION:
Open Monday through Friday, t
he low-cost clinic is dedicated entirely to spay/neuter efforts and plans to alter 11,000 owned pets this year.
The S.N.I.P. Clinic's high-quality, high-volume approach is a milestone for the area, as the region’s first program large enough to successfully combat pet overpopulation.
