Pets Looking for Homes
Help KHS find homes for thousands of unwanted dogs and cats!
Here are just a couple of pets looking for homes...

"Bugsy," a two-year-old shepherd mix, just may be your perfect match! Coming to KHS as a stray in mid-September, this sweet boy is ready to find a loving household where he'll get plenty of attention and exercise. He gets along with other dogs but would do best with children six years and older.

Neutered and microchipped, with up-to-date vaccinations, Bugsy can't wait to warm your heart and your feet! Come meet this handsome boy by visiting the Kentucky Humane Society's main campus today! Or, call (502) 366-3355 for more information.

"Christy," a five-year-old shorthaired calico, wants to be your forever friend! Coming to KHS in late June, this "Lonely Hearts Club" member is ready to find a permanent home where she'll get plenty of attention. Christy is very loving and sweet, and would be happiest indoors.

Spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations, this lovable kitty can offer a lifetime of companionship! Come visit Christy today at the Kentucky Humane Society's Clarksville Feeders Supply adoption site! Or, call (502) 366-3355 for more information. Her adoption fee is only $55.

Operation S.N.I.P (Spay Neuter Incentive Program) offers a regular low-cost spay-neuter clinic to the public, in an effort to combat the Louisville area's staggering pet overpopulation crisis. We need YOUR help to continue the state's largest spay-neuter campaign of its kind!

On November 4, KHS will host a special "No Baby! Shower" at the KHS main campus beginning at 2 p.m., where guests can bring in items from our Target Baby Gift Registry (registered under “Kentucky Humane” as the mother’s name) and enjoy an afternoon of games, snacks and beverages. Click here to view the Target Baby Registry list.

To the Rescue! Stories & Updates
Every month, KHS helps hundreds of animals in need. Here are just a couple of our rescue stories...

"Dutch," a one-year-old Gordon setter mix, was discovered hiding in a ditch behind a Pleasure Ridge Park grocery store in Louisville, Ky. Clearly terrified, Dutch appeared to have escaped from his home or been abandoned by his previous owner, as he still was wearing a collar.

Seeking to help the timorous dog, a kind Louisville resident rescued Dutch and immediately transported him to the KHS main campus. Upon initial examination, it was discovered that Dutch suffered from a painful condition -- the poor dog had outgrown his collar, so it had become attached to his skin after prolonged wear. With meticulous care, a KHS veterinarian removed the embedded collar, exposing a wound around his neck and a large, open gash across his lower neck.

After beginning a regiment of antibiotics and ointments, Dutch was placed in foster care with Marilyn M., a dedicated KHS volunteer and foster parent. Initially, he did not seem accustomed to living indoors, as he was wary of strangers and climbing stairs. But, Dutch quickly adjusted to life in his loving, temporary home.

While in foster care, Dutch fully recovered from his neck injuries. He also enjoyed taking walks on a leash, riding in cars and playing with kittens. "Dutch is just a big, goofy, lovable dog," shared Marilyn. "He was quite the 'Velcro' dog, in that he wanted to be with me all the time."

Up for adoption now, Dutch is ready to find a permanent home! Call (502) 366-3355 to learn more about this sweet, playful boy today!
