Pets Looking for Homes
Support the WAGGIN' TRAIL 5K and help KHS find homes for thousands of needy dogs and cats! Here are just a couple of our adoptable pets...
"Admiral," a two-year-old brindle boxer/Labrador retriever mix, is eager to please! Coming to KHS in mid-February, this happy-go-lucky boy doesn't want to wait any longer to find his lifelong home.
Admiral loves going for walks and playing with his favorite ball but, by the end of the day, he'll be ready to relax at your feet. He appears to get along with other dogs, walks well on a leash and knows basic commands, but would do best with children six years and older.
Neutered and microchipped, with up-to-date vaccinations, this sweetheart can offer a lifetime of companionship if given a chance!
Come visit Admiral today at the KHS main campus! Or, call (502) 366-3355 for more information.
"Smeigle," a five-year-old grey medium-haired kitty, can't wait to meet YOU! This handsome boy will entertain you with his playful antics, then snuggle up with you for an afternoon nap. Not only is he extremely affectionate, Smeigle is also good with children and other cats. Neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations, this big sweetheart can't wait to be your new best friend!
Come visit Smeigle today at the Fern Creek KHS-Feeders Supply adoption site! Or, call (502) 366-3355 for more information.

To the Rescue! Stories & Updates
YOUR support of the WAGGIN' TRAIL 5K helps animals like these!
On a cool April day, "Joplin," a one-year-old Rottweiler, was discovered wandering the streets in Bedford, Ky. A KHS rescue officer transported the stray canine from Trimble County to the KHS main campus for help. Upon preliminary examination and testing, the KHS veterinary team discovered that Joplin was heartworm positive.
Heartworms are small parasites that reside in the right ventricle of the heart and nearby blood vessels. If left untreated, this disease can develop into a serious and potentially life-threatening illness for infected dogs by causing dysfunctions of the heart and lungs.
Thankfully, Joplin has been placed in foster care and already began to receive the much-need treatment to treat this disease. The sweet dog will continue to remain in foster care and receive medication for a few weeks until she tests heartworm negative. Once fully recovered, Joplin will be ready to join a loving family. KHS wishes her all the best!
