TUXES & TAILS - Great Success!
On August 18, hundreds of pet lovers pumped up the volume with KHS for the 14th annual TUXES & TAILS benefit auction and gala, presented by Brown-Forman.
Held at Churchill Downs' fourth floor Millionaires Row, the rockin' affair got underway with a silent auction, open bar and hors d'oeuvres. The festivities continued with a delicious dinner, KHS success stories, live auction, rock and roll music throughout the decades provided by Jefferson Tarc Bus, adoptable pets and more. WHAS radio personalities Ron and Mel Fisher emceed the event, along with the help of WAVE 3's Carrie Weil and WDJX's Kelly K and Peter B.

Thanks to everyone's support, KHS raised over $125,000, helping thousands of needy animals in the community!

Pets Looking for Homes
Help KHS find homes for thousands of needy dogs and cats! Here are just a couple of our adoptable pets...
"Sweetie," a two-year-old Labrador retriever mix, is a happy-go-lucky girl! She's lively and inquisitive, loving to play and take walks. But, by the end of the day, she'll be ready to snuggle up or relax by your feet.
Sweetie knows basic commands and appears to like other dogs, but she would do best in a home with older children. She's spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations. Coming to the Kentucky Humane Society in late July, this gorgeous girl is ready to find her forever home TODAY!
Visit Sweetie today at the KHS main campus! Or, call (502) 366-3355 for more information.
"Charlotte," a three-year-old grey domestic shorthair, wants to go home with YOU! This big sweetheart doesn't want to wait any longer to find her permanent home. Charlotte is extremely friendly, easygoing, and playful. Spayed and microchipped, with up-to-date vaccinations, this loving kitty just may be your perfect match!
Come meet Charlotte today by visiting the KHS main campus! Or, call (502) 366-3355 for more information.

To the Rescue! Stories & Updates
Every month, KHS helps hundreds of animals in need. Here's just one of our rescue stories...
-- Updates from the Summer PAW STREET JOURNAL --

In May, a five-month-old American bulldog was surrendered to KHS with a badly broken jaw. After being examined by the KHS veterinary team, it was determined that "Dexter" would have to undergo surgery to wire the fragments of his jaw together, an injury most likely caused by blunt trauma. Click here to read more.
On a warm day in May, “Benson,” a stray five-year-old tri-colored beagle, was discovered on a roadside in La Grange, Ky., with an injured limb. Although a kind resident brought the disoriented canine to KHS for medical attention, the KHS rescue and veterinary teams were unable to save Benson’s right front leg. Click here to read more.
“Bippity," "Boppity" and "Boo," three six-week-old Siamese kittens were abandoned at the KHS main campus in early June. All three suffered from malnourishment, upper respiratory infections, eye infections and worms. KHS staff immediately placed the siblings in foster care, so they could receive proper nourishment and care.
