Fun & Educational Summer Camps!

Let your child learn about pet guardianship while having fun! In 2012, the Kentucky Humane Society will host its 25th year of summer camp with some new twists.

Kids can choose from three unique camps at two locations:

Lifelong Friends Camp - Ages 6-12

9 a.m.-4 p.m. 

Weeklong camp: $185
June 4-8, 11-15, 18-22, 25-29
July 9-13
July 30-August 3

"Double Dog Days" - $80
July 2-3, 5-6

Lifelong Friends campers will gain an understanding of the impact they can have as animal ambassadors while having fun making new friends, two-legged and four-legged! All activities are designed to foster a special appreciation for shelter animals. Activities include:

  • Taking a behind-the-scenes peek at life in the shelter
  • Hands-on training of adoptable pets
  • Creating videos to be featured on our website and Facebook page
  • Participating in a service project to benefit the shelter animals
  • Bathing and brushing our furry friends and more!

Children are grouped according to age. Extended care and Pizza Friday options also are available.

Wags 'N' Whiskers - Ages 6-12

Weeklong camp: $200
June 4-8, 11-15, 18-22, 25-29
July 9-13, 16-20, 23-27
July 30-August 3

"Double Dog Days" - $80
July 2-3, 5-6

Wags 'N' Whiskers Camp is a dog/cat-themed experience, where campers participate in five days of animal fun that will get their tails wagging! Campers learn about responsible pet care by:

  • Socializing with adoptable animals
  • Learning the basics of dog/cat body language
  • Making toys and treats for their own pets
  • Touring a vet clinic
  • Exploring animal-related careers and more!

Children are grouped according to age. Extended care and Pizza Friday options also are available.

Animal Advocates Camp - Ages 12-15

Weeklong camp: $210
July 16-20, 23-27

KHS Animal Advocate Camp is designed for young adults who have a deep passion for animals and want a hands-on experience with our shelter. Along with being assigned a shelter animal to care for, campers will:

  • Get an indepth, behind-the-scenes tour of the shelter
  • Meet professionals in animal-related careers
  • Explore animal welfare issues, including puppy mills and dog fighting
  • Take a field trip to KHS' innovative spay and neuter clinic
  • Have the opportunity to become a student volunteer
