Reactive Rover

Some dogs get overwhelmed when they see other dogs out in the world and may pull, lunge, bark, and generally become very hard to control. This can really take the joy out of a walk, make it stressful, and even keep us from walking our dogs altogether. If your dog is reactive towards other dogs and you’d like to be able to enjoy your walks again, this class might be for you. This 6-week class is $200.

Due to high demand, this class operates on a wait list. Please note that this class focuses on reactive behavior towards other dogs. If your dog is reactive to humans or other things in the environment, this class might not be the best fit. To find out if this class is right for you and your dog, please call 502-253-2883 to talk to one of our trainers and be added to the wait list.

Wallflowers

The world can be a scary place for some of our dogs. Sounds, sights, new people, and strange places can be overwhelming. But with the right guidance and a little bit of knowledge, we can take steps to build their confidence to help them feel a little more secure in their world. This class is all about working with our worried dogs that could use a little bit of help to feel more comfortable with their surroundings. Classes are paced with their learners in mind and take a maximum of 6 dogs and their handlers. This 6-week class is $200.

Puppy and Teenage Socials

The Kentucky Humane Society is now offering Puppy Socials (puppies 8-15 weeks) and “Teenage” Puppy Socials (puppies 4-6 months). This program started in 2020 when a record number of puppies found their forever home during the pandemic – and just like us, they had limited opportunities to socialize. This program has been so successful for our pups and their families that we decided to continue! All young dogs should learn how to make new friends. Living with other dogs is great but meeting new dogs is an important life skill that takes practice and early socialization is key. Proper socialization is immensely important to help ensure your puppy will grow into a happy, well-adjusted and confident dogs which helps reduce future problems such as fear, anxiety and anti-social behavior. The price for 3-week Puppy Socials is $75.

This isn’t just your pup’s regular playgroup! Puppy and “Teenage” Socials are composed of three 45-minute sessions of age-appropriate socialization exercises and off-leash play, all overseen and coached by one of our professional trainers. Your new puppy or “teenage” pup will learn about sounds like a doorbell, thunder and a vacuum, have the opportunity to explore new items and textures, and learn that people in sunglasses, masks, hats and hoods aren’t spooky at all! Want to see a social in action? Watch the video below.

Call 502-253-2883 to find out if a social is the right choice for your puppy. Our Puppy and Teenage Socials take place at the KHS East Campus on Lyndon Lane. Enroll online or by phone.

Private Training

For some families, a group class might not be the right fit. Your dog may not be comfortable in a group setting, they may require a specialized training plan, or you may learn better in a on one-on-one setting. In some cases, private training is the best way to to reach your goals with your dog and we are here to help!

Private Training lessons are 30 minutes each and held at our East Campus on Lyndon Lane or our Main Campus on Steedly Drive. Private lessons include a written training plan and access to your trainer by phone, email, or video chat if you have questions between your lessons. Private training is scheduled by phone at 502-253-2883. Single lessons are $50 and a 4-lesson package is $180.

*Note that different dogs and behaviors may be better suited to in-home training depending on the details of your case. If you are in need of a service that we do not have available, we are happy to provide referral resources. Please call us at 502-253-2883 and we can help you select that option that will be best for you and your dog!
