After the death of our much loved collie, my family and I regularly visited the KHS website and stopped by the Steedly Drive location as well as several Feeders Supply sites looking for the perfect companion for our Sheltie, Desi.  One day I excitedly called home and said I had just seen the most adorable litter of pups at the Feeders Supply in St. Matthews. Paul and Possum were tan and white and Patrick was mostly black. All three looked like fuzzy, little bears.  By the time our family gathered at the store, Paul and Possum had been promised to other families.  Poor little Patrick looked nothing like his brothers and he had apparently had a very difficult beginning to his life because he had a big cut on his nose and had several scratches elsewhere on his body. But he was so cute and cuddly and we knew immediately he was the perfect addition to our family. And, wow, he is so special we just can’t imagine life without this little pup who grew to be a loving, gentle giant. We are so thankful that he was rescued by KHS and can now know the love and security he and all pets deserve.

As we considered names for our little ball of fur the name Yogi Bear spoke to us because of his gentle but goofy personality. And, indeed, Yogi is smarter than the average bear - he loves to steal food from picnic baskets, countertops, tabletops and any other possible place! He is adored by everyone who meets him, both human and canine alike! Yogi is very protective of his family and especially his older but much smaller brother, Desi.  He is so loved and spoiled that any time one of us is on the phone, he barks and takes his paw to slap the phone as if to say - “Hey, get off the phone and pay attention to me!”  Not that he needs attention, because hey, hey, hey…he‘s Yogi and he is definitely smarter than the average bear, dog, human…  We just love our boy and feel honored to have Yogi in our family.
