Before You Adopt a Cat

Here are some tips to help you select the right pet for your family and lifestyle:

If your family is considering a feline pet, keep in mind that kittens can be quite fragile, while adult cats can be very skittish and even afraid of small children if they’ve not been socialized with kids. If you’re interested in an adult, find out as much information as you can about the cat’s history and whether or not it’s been exposed to children. If you’re interested in a young kitten, consider the age of your children and whether they can properly handle a delicate kitten. The same also applies, of course, to young puppies.
