The Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) invites the public to create a “pet independence day” for a grateful shelter pet by adopting before July 4th.
During the “Pet Independence Adoption Celebration,” there are no adoption fees for cats six months and older; dogs 25 pounds or more can be adopted for $17.76, in honor of the founding of the country. Jefferson County adopters also pay for pet licensing fees ($10.50), and Legacy Pets (typically purebred or “designer” breeds) are excluded from the special.
All pets adopted from KHS have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and given worm, flea and tick preventatives – services which are valued at more than $250.
The adoption special takes place that the KHS East Campus at 1000 Lyndon Lane, Louisville, and at KHS adoption centers in nine Feeders Supply stores. Visit kyhumane.org to see all adoptable pets and their locations.
The adoption special runs June 30-July 3. Adoption is pending approval of an application process that usually takes an hour or less.
