Petco Foundation Invests In Lifesaving Work of the Kentucky Humane Society

LOUISVILLE - March 27, 2018 – the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) announced it has been awarded a $22,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support its spay/neuter services and foster care programs.

Located in Louisville, KHS is a nonprofit organization that offers pet adoptions, low-cost spay/neuter and veterinary services, and pet retention programs serving the Louisville Metro area.

The Petco Foundation investment will support free spay/neuter surgeries to pit bull-type dogs at the KHS S.N.I.P. Clinic, helping reduce the number of animals surrendered to local shelters. Funding will also support the KHS foster program; over 1,300 animals spend time in foster care each year before they are ready for adoption.

“We are so thrilled to partner with Petco Foundation in saving and improving the lives of shelter animals in Louisville,” said Lori Redmon, KHS President & CEO. “Their support means so much to the animals.”

About the Petco Foundation

At the Petco Foundation, we believe that every animal deserves to live its best life.  Since 1999, we’ve invested more than $200 million in lifesaving animal welfare work to make that happen. With our more than 4,000 animal welfare partners, we inspire and empower communities to make a difference by investing in adoption and medical care programs, spay and neuter services, pet cancer research, service and therapy animals, and numerous other lifesaving initiatives. Through our Think Adoption First program, we partner with Petco stores and animal welfare organizations across the country to increase pet adoptions. So far, we’ve helped more than 5.5 million pets find their new loving families, and we’re just getting started. Visit petcofoundation.org to learn more about how you can get involved.
