Horses

The Kentucky Humane Society's Equine Program now has a new home. On Thursday, October 24, KHS dedicated Willow Hope Farm in Simpsonville. The farm is named after Willow, a recently found abandoned and extremely malnourished horses. Her will to survive inspired KHS  to name their new barn in her honor.

Gallop Out to Bill Collins Event Oct 27

This Sunday, Oct. 27, get up close and personal with a Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) rescue horse during “The Gallop Out to Bill Collins Equine Event” at Bill Collins Ford of Louisville, 4220 Bardstown Road.

From 12-3 pm, Silver Fox – a beautiful gray Quarter Horse – will be at this free event. There will also be adorable KHS puppies to play with, food, drinks, giveaways and a live remote with radio station WXMA 102.3.

To anyone who has worked with Miniature horses, it’s no surprise that these little horses can have mighty big personalities.

This is especially true with Henry, Maggie and Hope.

These three “minis,” as Miniature horses are often called, were more than a handful. These horses had never been trained, and after their owner died, they were taken in by another relative. Vanessa and her boyfriend had no experience with horses, but they loved their uncle, and they wanted to try to take care of the minis in honor of him.
