We Are Celebrating #HelpAHorse Day - Join Us!
The Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) is participating in the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) national #HelpAHorse Day contest, which kicks off on April 26, competing for a chance to win some of the $110,000 available in grant prizes. The competition is designed to raise awareness about the year-round lifesaving work that agencies do to find good homes for horses.
Starting on Help a Horse Day April 26 and continuing through June 30, KHS will compete with other equine groups to break down barriers to adopting and to see how many horses they can adopt out.
“Our goal is to highlight the incredible horses we have who are ready for adoption,” said Shara Wiesenauer, KHS Equine Director. “Kentuckians love horses, and we want to encourage people to make adoption their first option when acquiring a new equine companion.”

Our Orphaned Foals
Some of our orphaned foals will be available for adoption by owners experienced with raising foals. Others will be placed with trusted rescue partners who specialize in foals. Below are the foals currently in our care. They remain with us until they are stable and strong enough for either adoption or rescue placement.
Sponsor a Horse or Foal
Can't adopt but want to help? Sponsor a Horse! Your donation supports our lifesaving work of rescuing Kentucky's at-risk equines. You choose the horse you want to sponsor and the amount of your gift. Just click on the "Sponsor Me" link below.
You can become a Sponsor-a-Horse Guardian by donating $250 or more. Guardians will receive a photo of their sponsored horse and will be contacted when their special horse is adopted or is placed with a trusted rescue partner. Your donation of $250 means so much to our horses, as it provides for hay, veterinary care and training while they are under our care. Learn more about our sponsor program.
