|Leia (FeLV+) (Adoption Ambassador)|
Introducing the fabulous Leia! Leia is a two-year-old Russian Blue who came to the Kentucky Humane Society from an overcrowded shelter. Now she's ready for a family to love for the rest of her days! When Leia arrived at KHS, it was discovered that she is Feline Leukemia (FeLV) positive. At many shelters, Leia would be at risk for euthanasia because of her FeLV status. However at the Kentucky Humane Society we believe that just because she will have a shortened lifespan, she still deserves a forever home! Because Leia is FeLV positive, she will need to be the only kitty in her home or live in a household with other FeLV-positive cats. Leia currently lives in a foster home with 2 other FeLV kitties and loves spending time with them. Her foster mama says Leia loves everyone, she loves being a part of the family and being where her people are. She likes playing with wand toys and she loves chasing/playing with other cats. She would do fine with other FeLV cats and would probably be fine with kids too. She's likes to fall at her human's feet for cuddling and likes cuddling with other animals. She is very confident around dogs of all sizes and doesn't try to scratch them. Leia is a true family cat and always seems confident in new surroundings. Could you be the one for Leia? Leia is spayed, micro-chipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations.
Leia is a member of our adoption ambassador program. As part of our ambassador program, some of our feline and canine friends have the opportunity to live in foster homes. This allows our staff to learn more about
each animal's individual personality and needs, while they are in a more comfortable living space, outside of the shelter setting. The goal of the Adoption Ambassador program is for these foster animals to be adopted directly from their foster home.
If you are interested in meeting Leia, please first submit an online adoption application located at www.kyhumane.org/cat-app. Once we have received your adoption application, our foster team will follow up and provide you with more information.
Kitties like me have a shorter lifespan due to Feline Leukemia (FeLV), but we still deserve the chance for a happy life. Because of my FeLV status, I must be the only kitty in my home or go to a household with other FeLV-positive cats, and I cannot be let outside. I will also need an adopter who understands that I will need more frequent veterinary checkups due to my condition. If you're interested in learning more about me and FeLV, please ask my adoption counselor for details.
I came to the Kentucky Humane Society from another shelter. The staff are still learning all about me. I miss being in a home and have a lot of love to give.
