Looking for a best friend to love? Meet Capri! Spunky Capri is a seven-month-old Domestic Shorthair kitty. She arrived to the Kentucky Humane Society from an overcrowded, rural shelter. Upon arriving, little Capri tested positive for Feline Leukemia or FeLV. This virus weakens a cat's immune system and can also cause secondary infections. Although some FeLV cats can live long lives, the virus usually shortens a cat's lifespan. KHS believes she deserves a chance at a full life even if it is a shorter life! We've seen firsthand how affectionate and spirited cats like Capri are; they don't let their diagnosis hold them back in the slightest! Capri spends her days like any other kitten. She's full of joy and is always trying to make friends with anyone she meets. Plus, she'll gladly invite you to play with her collection of jingly toys! Her foster parents said the following about this goofy girl: "Capri is such a lover! She loves to climb right on my lap as soon as I sit on the sofa, and she'll even lick my cheek with little kisses like a puppy! She has plenty of kitten energy and loves to play. There's lots of purring and little kitten kisses all the time!" Since Capri is FeLV positive, she will either need to be the only kitty in the home or go home with other FeLV felines. But even if you're looking for just one cat companion, Capri will be glad to go home with you! Could you be the one for this sweetheart? If so, please give her a chance! Capri is spayed, micro-chipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations.

As part of our ambassador program, some of our feline and canine friends have the opportunity to live in foster homes. This allows our staff to learn more about each animal's individual personality and needs, while they are in a more comfortable living space, outside of the shelter setting. The goal of the Adoption Ambassador program is for these foster animals to be adopted directly from their foster home. Fabulous FeLV+
Kitties like me have a shorter lifespan due to Feline Leukemia (FeLV), but we still deserve the chance for a happy life. Because of my FeLV status, I must be the only kitty in my home or go to a household with other FeLV-positive cats, and I cannot be let outside. I will also need an adopter who understands that I will need more frequent veterinary checkups due to my condition. The Kentucky Humane Society saves every adoptable animal and provides them with food, shelter, spay/neuter surgeries, medical and behavioral assistance and then finds them loving homes.
