Have you been dreaming of that one dog who is the perfect mix of get-up-and-go energy combined with the ability to snuggle sweetly while you watch TV? A dog who is smart and loves to learn new tricks, but also a big ol' goofy dork? That one perfect dog who loves everybody he meets and just knows that everyone is their best friend? If so, look no further than our wonderful Tater! Tater is a 2 year old, 64 pound Pit Bull Terrier. He has been spending time in a foster home while waiting for his family to come along, and he is so ready to find his forever home! Tater's foster mom says Tater has plenty of energy and is always up for a good walk, hike, or play session, but his favorite thing in the world is snuggling his people and his blanket. He knows a ton of tricks such as "sit", "stay", "wait", "leave it", and he would love to keep on learning in his new home. Tater is housetrained, crate trained, and an all around great spud of a dog.

Tater does have skin allergies and is on a prescription food and a daily pill (Apoquel) to help keep him from being itchy. While Tater seems to do well with lower energy dogs, he does not care for cats and needs to be in a cat free home. Tater would also love to meet any potential dog siblings to make sure their personalities are a good match. Tater will thrive in a home with a fenced yard for him to chase tennis balls and play with his humans. While he does love everyone he meets, Tater doesn't always realize his size and can be a bit of a blockhead. For this reason, any children in the home need to be over the age of 10. This goofy giant is just waiting for someone to give him a second chance (and lots of tennis balls). If you're in need of a friend, submit an application for Tater! He is neutered, micro-chipped and up-to-date on his shots.

As part of our ambassador program, some of our feline and canine friends have the opportunity to live in foster homes. This allows our staff to learn more about each animal's individual personality and needs, while they are in a more comfortable living space, outside of the shelter setting. The goal of the Adoption Ambassador program is for these foster animals to be adopted directly from their foster home. If you are interested in meeting them, please first submit an online adoption application located at www.kyhumane.org/dog-app. Once we have received your adoption application, our foster team will follow up and provide you with more information.
