Say hello to Kiwi! This zesty gal is a year old Boxer mix who is looking for a great family to love. Kiwi came to the Kentucky Humane Society originally from an overcrowded shelter and soon after giving birth to 10 healthy puppies. She was an insanely good mom to her babies and protected them with her whole being! Now that all her puppies have found families of their own, it's time for Kiwi to be treated like the royalty she is! Kiwi was adopted once prior from KHS but she was returned when her owner realized she wasn't a good fit for their lifestyle. Despite being an adult dog and over 50 pounds, Kiwi still acts like a big puppy and is very energetic. She spent so much of her youth taking care of her babies that she didn't have a chance to learn how to be a well adjusted adult herself! Her previous owner was away from home a lot during the day and simply could not meet her needs so someone who is a bit of a homebody would be amazing for Kiwi. Kiwi thrives in a structured environment and will need a patient family who can help her with house-training, walking on a leash and manners. All these things are just so new to her! Kiwi has shown she can be selective of her dog friends during her time at the shelter and would like to be spoiled as your only pup. Due to her rambunctious, "I'm still a puppy!" play style, kids 5 and up would be best for this gorgeous girl. If you've been looking for an optimistic companion, please consider Kiwi! She is spayed, micro-chipped and up-to-date on her shots.
Kiwi is a student in our Behavior Modification program. Please read her description below. After reading her description in full, and if you are interested in meeting her, you must submit an online adoption application located at www.kyhumane.org/dog-app. Once we have received your adoption application, our behavior team will follow up and provide you with more information.
