|Mitch (East Campus) ($100 Adoption Fee)|
Meet the incredible Mitch! Mitch is a six-year-old, 63-pound pooch who recently arrived at the Kentucky Humane Society from an overcrowded shelter. Now he's ready for the next phase of his life, finding a family of his very own! Mitch appears to have many physical and behavioral traits of a Treeing Walker Coonhound. He's a BIG fan of exploring outside and loves to stretch his legs on walks or hikes. Mitch is unique in that he is very cat-like in his relationships. Although he finds humans curious, he is incredibly independent and is content to do his own thing. He may not have a lot of experience living in a home yet and would love a patient family who can help him adjust to life as a spoiled family member. Despite his age, Mitch adores the great outdoors and is always ready for a walk! His zest for life causes him to explore faster than his human companions; he doesn't understand why humans are so slow while on a leash and tries to be encourage us by leading us along a scent trail. But there's nothing Mitch loves more than playing in the water! He also appears housetrained and is rather quiet unless he sees a squirrel or small animal. If you don't see it first, don't worry - Mitch will let you know with a dramatic baying session! Gotta love Coonhounds! Mitch has not met dogs while at KHS but appears curious and eager to meet them. He went on a field trip to the park and hung out with a ten-year-old! We always encourage you to bring your pup and kiddos in for a meet and greet to make sure everyone will be happy together. If you've been searching for an outdoorsy buddy to join you on smell-filled adventures, come take this hound home! Mitch is neutered, micro-chipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations.
I came to the Kentucky Humane Society from another shelter. The staff are still learning all about me. I miss being in a home and have a lot of love to give.
Mitch's adoption fee is reduced. In October, Neil Huffman Subaru and Subaru of America are donating $100 toward the adoption fees of select dogs at the Kentucky Humane Society in honor of Subaru's "loves pets" month. One dog a day will be chosen to be added to this special. Because Mitch's normal adoption fee is $200, his adoption fee is $100 in October. Adopters in Jefferson County are responsible for $10.50 licensing, and donations are gratefully accepted!
