Please allow us to wow you with the incredible, the sensational, the cuddle master extraordinaire... LARS! Lars is a three-year-old mix - maybe a Great Dane/Lab mix? Honestly, the jury is still out on his breed, but ten bucks says a DNA test will reveal he's 100% good boy. This lanky, dorky, affectionate guy is 86 pounds of pure enthusiasm and basically just a walking antidepressant on 4 legs. Seriously, Lars will not allow you to be sad. Not on his watch! He will duck underneath your arms to force you to pet him and just stare at you with a giant smile and blank expression.

Lars has spent a few nights in a KHS foster home, and his foster family said he is amazing! In the foster home, Lars was potty trained, very quiet, well-mannered, and the absolutely sweetest and most loving dog ever. He loves meeting new people and cuddling, and enjoys his snoozing on dog beds. He's a fan of Kongs and treats of all kinds.

This loving dude came to the Kentucky Humane Society from a failed animal shelter where he was living in less than ideal conditions. In that previous shelter, Lars was attacked by some other dogs, which has made him fearful of dogs and so he is looking for a home where he can be the one and only doggo. Are you ready to warm your heart and your lap? Are you ready to kiss seasonal depression goodbye? Come meet Lars today! Lars is neutered, micro-chipped and up-to-date on vaccinations.

I came to the Kentucky Humane Society from another shelter. The staff are still learning all about me. I miss being in a home and have a lot of love to give.

Heartworm Positive:
This dog has been diagnosed as heartworm positive (HW+) and is undergoing treatment. While under treatment, there are certain exercise restrictions as well as a requirement to return to the shelter for further treatments until the dog is heartworm-free. An adoption counselor will be happy to explain the process of adopting and more about the parasite that causes heartworms. Due to the need to return for monthly treatment after taking a HW+ dog home, the adopter must live in one of the following counties to be approved for adoption: Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Henry, Trimble, and Shelby counties
