|Glenda (East Campus HW+) ($25 Adoption Fee)|
Say hello to Glenda the Good! Glenda may not be the most powerful sorceress in the Land of Oz, but she is definitely stealing hearts at the Kentucky Humane Society! This two-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix weighs 47 pounds and came to KHS from a place where was often exposed to the elements and not given the care she needed. Because of this, poor Glenda contracted heartworms. Heartworms are not contagious to other animals and are contracted when an animal is bitten by a mosquito carrying the disease. Don't worry though, heartworms are treatable and KHS will continue to provide our beautiful Glenda with treatment until she tests negative for those pesky worms. In the meantime, she will just need to be on restricted exercise in her new home until she is free of heartworms. Glenda is a gorgeous lady with blue and white coloring and eyes that look right into your heart and melt it! She has a happy disposition and loves going for walks with her human friends at the shelter. Glenda has met some other dogs while at KHS and some she hits it right off with and others she gives a polite "no thank you." Since she is a bit selective with her doggy pals, she needs to meet any in the home before being adopted. Glenda has let us know she is not a cat fan and would not like to share her home with feline friends. That's okay though! Glenda has enough love for the whole family! Could you be the one for this adorable lady? If so, come meet her! Glenda is spayed, micro-chipped, up-to-date on vaccines and ready to leave Oz behind for a life with you!
I came to the Kentucky Humane Society from another shelter. The staff are still learning all about me. I miss being in a home and have a lot of love to give.
This dog has been diagnosed as heartworm positive (HW+) and is undergoing treatment. While under treatment, there are certain exercise restrictions as well as a requirement to return to the shelter for further treatments until the dog is heartworm-free. An adoption counselor will be happy to explain the process of adopting and more about the parasite that causes heartworms. Due to the need to return for monthly treatment after taking a HW+ dog home, the adopter must live in one of the following counties to be approved for adoption: Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Henry, Trimble, and Shelby counties
