|Ernest (In Training)|
Meet our sweet senior Shepherd, Ernest! This 7 year old GSD weighs about 75 pounds and came to the Kentucky Humane Society from another shelter. When he first arrived we noticed he looked like he was in pain. Turns out he had a perineal hernia that needed repair. Our amazing medical team performed the necessary surgery and now Ernest is feeling good! This sweet boy spent some time in a foster home and his foster says he's a lovely guest. He appears to be housetrained and crate trained and loves belly rubs. He also really enjoys fetch! Ernest doesn't seem to care for other dogs and would love to go home as your one and only. A fenced in yard would be ideal for Ernest. He enjoys walks but sometimes will react at novel people or dogs. He is working on this with the KHS behavior team and his adoption will include some training resources post-adoption. Ernest is neutered, micro-chipped, and up to date on vaccinations. See below for information on how to meet Ernest.
Ernest is part of our shelter dog training program. If you are interested in meeting him, please first submit an online adoption application located at the following URL: www.kyhumane.org/dog-app.
Once we have received your adoption application, our staff trainers will follow up and provide you with more information.
I came to the Kentucky Humane Society from another shelter. The staff are still learning all about me. I miss being in a home and have a lot of love to give.
