|Tater (Adoption Ambassador)|
Tater is a member of our adoption ambassador program. If you are interested in meeting him, please first submit an online adoption application located at www.kyhumane.org/dog-app. Once we have received your adoption application, our foster team will follow up and provide you with more information.
Lookin' for a solid spud of a dog? A comfort-inducing bushel of joy? Look no further than Tater! This 65-pound hunk of love was abandoned at the Kentucky Humane Society all by himself. Tater had some really itchy skin when we found him and has had a wonderful foster family caring for him while his skin got better. He's an energetic dude who's also really smart and knows lots of tricks. His foster mom says Tater knows sit, shake, stay/wait, bed-bye, and he is learning to fetch! He's also housetrained and crate trained, loves going on hikes and runs, playing tug, and eating vanilla ice cream. We're not sure why someone would leave such a loveable goof and drive away, but we do know his new family will be very lucky to have him. Tater's adoption even comes with follow up training lessons so he can keep learning new skills!
Tater looks to be an American Pit Bull Terrier mix and is about a year and a half old. He does have allergies and is on a prescription food and a daily pill to help keep him from being itchy. Tater has met some doggy friends while at the shelter but he is very exuberant and pushy in his play style, so he will need to meet any potential dog siblings to see if they can keep up with his energetic ways. Because of his energy level and mouthiness, Tater needs to go to a home with a yard to play in and any children need to be over the age of 10. This goofy giant is just waiting for someone to give him a second chance (and lots of tennis balls). If you're in need of a friend, submit an application for Tater! He is neutered, micro-chipped and up-to-date on his shots.
As part of our ambassador program, some of our feline and canine friends have the opportunity to live in foster homes. This allows our staff to learn more about each animal's individual personality and needs, while they are in a more comfortable living space, outside of the shelter setting. The goal of the Adoption Ambassador program is for these foster animals to be adopted directly from their foster home. If you are interested in meeting them, please first submit an online adoption application located at www.kyhumane.org/dog-app. Once we have received your adoption application, our foster team will follow up and provide you with more information.
