Renata is a former feral free-roaming mare. She came to KHS in April after being captured as a free roaming horse but then being badly starved and neglected at a boarding facility (no longer in operation). She has been a snorty girl, honest about her feelings about things, and is trying very hard to figure out this domestication stuff. She does not accept treats, no thank you. She does however love to be scratched in all the right places and is making wonderful progress with her foster, who is now able to brush her and touch her all over. She loves going for walks to hand-graze and is slowly learning that humans can be pretty great and will soon be ready for more formal training. Renata moves like she may be gaited and will be a lovely riding partner one day when she's ready. She just needs a patient loving partner to show her the way as she's ready. If you are a compassionate individual with training experience or willing to work closely with one to keep Renata on the right track, please reach out about adoption.
