Tater Tot was born and raised by her mother as a free roaming feral horse with a small group who were frequently crossing and loitering on a highway. For her safety, and that of local motorists, she and her herd were gathered in December of 2023.
Tater Tot is young, curious and eager to learn. She has blossomed in domestic life and is now up to date on all cares. Tater Tot has been lightly started on groundwork to prepare for later training. Her dam is of Rocky Mountain / Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse / Saddlebred type, and due to the nature of free-roaming herds, Tater-Tot's sire remains a mystery. Tater Tot should grow into a hardy, sturdy mare suitable for a variety of disciplines, but as with many free-roaming populations her eventual gait is uncertain. She may have a nice saddle rack once she's started under saddle but for now, she trots in the pasture. Tater Tot appears sound at all gaits in the pasture but on occasion, especially if stalled and receiving less exercise she has experienced a locking right stifle, which has improved some with time, proper nutrients, and space to grow but we would definitely want any potential adopter to know about this in case it persists into adulthood.
