Willow is an aged Standardbred mare who arrived emaciated in 2019. She was nursed back to health here at Willow Hope Farm and foaled a healthy, sweet colt named Breeze on 5-23-20. Her foal has since been weaned and adopted but Willow remains. Willow has been ridden in English and Western tack. She is broke to ride and is a pacer (both legs on the same side move at the same time as opposed to the diagonal pairs moving together in a trot). Willow would likely make a suitable trail horse. She is a peculiar combination of calm but quite forward under saddle, so she moves off quicker than some beginners are comfortable with. Willow has likely experienced some founder in the past, but doesn't seem to have any issues with grass founder even when turned out 24/7 on plentiful pasture at Willow Hope Farm. Willow has been ridden by beginners in a controlled setting, but would do best with an owner who has enough experience to maintain her manners when ridden. She also would be a fantastic companion horse as she is low on the pecking order and often avoids drama. If interested in Willow apply to adopt today!
