Jorja is a Morgan/Thoroughbred cross mare who is 15.1hh tall and 13 years old. She is an owner surrender to KHS and was not a rescue, nor has she experienced any neglect. By all accounts Jorja has been well treated and well cared-for her entire life. She has experience with Prelim Combined Driving, recreational riding, and a bit of low level dressage work. Jorja can at times be a bit tight and tense under saddle, so we will be working with her to determine if this is an issue that can be resolved, or if she would be happiest as a driving or companion horse. She is not now and will not likely be a beginner horse due to the aforementioned tension issues in case they were to arise again in the future or be an ongoing concern. After some time to relax and settle in at KHS we have re-evaluated Jorja and she did very well under saddle. I think a thoughtful attentive rider will be key to her success as a riding horse. If by chance her tension under saddle returns she would be best served by an adopter that will do slow work/bending with her as needed to allow her to relax and continue under saddle. This is mentioned out of an abundance of caution to place her appropriately. Jorja has not bucked with us or offered to buck, not has she bolted. She just seemed tense upon arrival and we were told it was noted in the past as well. Jorja is a very easy keeper and may need muzzled in a home with pasture during the grassier seasons. Jorja has a lot of potential to do a variety of disciplines under saddle with the right person to bring out her abilities. She would also be suitable to go directly into a driving home.
