Thanks to support from PRAI Beauty, the Kentucky Humane Society will be waiving adoption fees for all adoptable pets at its 10 adoption centers Friday-Sunday, March 9-11, 2018.
Participating adoption centers are:
- The KHS East Campus, 1000 Lyndon Lane, Louisville KY, open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
- Feeders Supply adoption centers at Clarksville (Ind.), Dixie (Valley Station), Fern Creek, Hikes Point, Pewee Valley, Preston, North Dixie, Springhurst and St. Matthews; open 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
KHS is waiving the adoption fees, but not the adoption process. Adopters from Jefferson County pay $10.50 licensing fees, and donations are gratefully accepted. Adoptions will stop about one hour before the centers close. No adoptable pets will be at the Steedly Drive location.
“Free the Shelters” was launched by PRAI Beauty in May 2017 and to date has helped more than 2,363 animals get adopted at 35 private and municipal shelters across the country.
Cathy Kangas will announce the event during her appearance on March 7 on HSN where she sells PRAI Beauty, her successful skincare line that donates a portion of every sale to helping animals.
Cathy Kangas said: “We pride ourselves in being first at PRAI Beauty and this campaign is no exception. We are starting a movement. Shelter animals can be pedigree or mutts, young or old…they’re all perfect and need to find good homes. Shelters should be short-term foster homes rather than a long-term jail sentence for companion animals.”
Robin Vincent, Shelter Operations Director at Kentucky Humane Society, said: “We are thrilled that so many grateful shelter animals will find loving homes this weekend, thanks to PRAI Beauty’s commitment to free the shelters.”
