You’re Cordially Invited to a Kitten Shower
April in Louisville brings spring flowers, showers – and the arrival of kittens! The Kentucky Humane Society is preparing for the influx of felines by hosting a Kitten Shower at its East Campus, 1000 Lyndon Lane, on Sunday, April 15, 1-3 p.m.
The public is invited to bring “wish list” donations for the kittens and learn about fostering opportunities, kitten care and the importance of spaying and neutering. There will be kittens, activities for the kids, raffles, grab bags and refreshments. Guests are asked to bring much-needed items such as:
• Cans of soft pate kitten food (Science Diet, Fancy Feast, Iams and Royal Canin are preferred)
• Feeders Supply gift cards
• KMR (kitten milk replacer) cans and powder (we do not need 2nd Step)
• Heating pads or microwavable heating discs and covers
• Unscented baby wipes
• Small blankets/bedding
• Clay litter
• Small stuffed toys
• Gram scales
• Small litter boxes
• Cash donations
KHS foster coordinator Kayla Saylor said that KHS is looking for new foster caregivers. “Fostering mother cats and kittens is a fun, rewarding way to help needy animals. The animals live in your home until the kittens are old enough to be spay/neutered and adopted – usually a few weeks. KHS provides all the necessary supplies. Our foster families provide love and care.”
Following the kitten shower, a foster orientation will take place for those interested in fostering kittens this year.
KHS is the state’s largest pet adoption agency, finding homes for more than 6,000 shelter animals a year. The KHS S.N.I.P. Clinic provides affordable spay/neuter surgeries; since the clinic opened in 2007, more than 105,000 local dogs and cats have been spayed or neutered. Learn more at www.kyhumane.org.
