Tuxes & Tails Gala on Aug. 5 benefits animals at the Kentucky Humane Society
For the pets at the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS), there’s no place like home, and KHS is celebrating that theme during our 24th annual Tuxes & Tails Gala, August 5, 2017, at the Marriott East in Louisville. Join the magical trip down a yellow brick road to fun, food, an open bar and one of the liveliest charity auctions this side of the Emerald City.
Tuxes & Tails Gala, presented by Brown-Forman, kicks off at 6 p.m. with a silent auction, open bar, hors d'oeuvres, adoptable pets, followed by dinner and a spirited live auction. Guests may choose from a meat or vegan option. Master Magician Lance Burton will entertain guests during dinner.
The Wizard of Pawz-themed celebration continues until 11 p.m. with an After Party that includes music by From Paris, dancing and fun that would make Dorothy and Toto proud. Black tie and Oz-themed costumes are optional. Proceeds benefit the dogs, cats and horses at KHS.
Gala tickets—which typically sell out—are $200 per person, or $2,000 for a table. This year KHS is also offering $100 tickets to the Emerald City Lounge for guests who want to arrive after dinner. Lounge tickets are sponsored by the Voice-Tribune. Starting at 8:30 p.m., Emerald City Lounge guests enjoy appetizers, desserts, drinks, silent auction bidding and adoptable pets at Charr'd restaurant. They join the After Party for dancing and cocktails at 9:30 p.m.
The Marriott East, 1903 Embassy Square Blvd., will offer special rates and VIP “take the elevator home” packages for Tuxes & Tails guests.
