Saturday March 23 is National Puppy Day, and the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) is encouraging people to celebrate by adopting.

“Shelter puppies make fantastic members of the family,” said Robin Vincent, KHS Shelter Operations Director. “They come in all sizes, colors and personalities, and each deserves a loving, forever home.”

KHS reports they have been “inundated” with puppies this spring. In the last 30 days alone, KHS has taken in over 200 puppies.

“The majority of these puppies are coming to KHS from overcrowded rural shelters throughout Kentucky, so not only is adopting a shelter puppy a great way to expand your family, but it also helps save a life,” said Vincent.

When KHS has the space, they assist overcrowded animal shelters by transferring pets into their adoption program.

All pets at KHS are spayed or neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations. KHS has nine adoption centers throughout Louisville. View all adoptable dogs or cats or call 502-366-3355 for more information.

Every KHS adoptable pet comes with 30 days of free PetFirst Pet Insurance, a free wellness exam from VCA Animal Hospitals, over $250 in Feeders Supply coupons, and free behavioral help through the KHS Pet Help Line.
