The Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) with Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) are thrilled to host the inaugural LOU ADOPTS! mega adoption event to find loving homes for nearly 100 adoptable local dogs and puppies. Sponsored by Isaacs & Isaacs Personal Injury Lawyers, LOU ADOPTS! will offer on-site adoptions at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center Pavilion on Saturday, May 13 from noon – 4:00 p.m.
Like shelters across the country, local shelters are experiencing an increase in the number of animals being surrendered. Owner surrenders and other intakes have skyrocketed nationwide by 9.5 percent in the past year, while adoptions are down. The goal of LOU ADOPTS! is to help find homes for as many dogs and puppies as possible to free up space in our local shelters so that they can continue to help animals in need.
KHS and LMAS will be joined at LOU ADOPTS! by Golden Retriever Rescue and Adoption of Needy Dogs or GRRAND, Animal Care Society, Hardin County Animal Shelter, Anderson County Care and Control and Jeffersonville Animal Shelter to offer the public a large variety of friendly, loving adoptable local dogs and puppies.
Adoption fees will vary by participating shelters. Jefferson County adopters will be required to pay a $10.50 licensing fee. All the dogs and puppies will be spayed/neutered, micro-chipped and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Every new pet family deserves a housewarming present, so Isaacs & Isaacs will provide each adopter with a unique branded “Hammer” gift that will only be available at this event. Attendees will also have an opportunity to have their photo taken with Darryl Isaacs, aka The Hammer himself.
LOU ADOPTS! is free to attend. Food and drinks will be available for purchase onsite from local food trucks and Kentucky Exposition concessions. Parking is free when entering through Gate 4 of the Fair and Exposition Center. For more details, visit kyhumane.org/LOUADOPTS!
