Positively Puppies – puppies 8-15 weeks

It’s never too early to get started with the basics! In fact, there are some things that are crucial to get started as soon as possible. This 6-week class covers socialization exercises, aggression prevention, handling practice, and getting started with age-appropriate manners and obedience work. They even get to enjoy off-leash playtime to practice their social skills with their classmates. Join us to help your puppy grow up in a happy, behaviorally healthy, well-adjusted adult. This six-week class is $95.

Reactive Rover

Some dogs get overwhelmed when they see other dogs out in the world and may pull, lunge, bark, and generally become very hard to control. This can really take the joy out of a walk, make it stressful, and even keep us from walking our dogs altogether. If your dog is reactive towards other dogs and you’d like to be able to enjoy your walks again, this class might be for you.

This class operates on a waitlist so we are able to properly screen all students before enrollment and due to high demand. This 6-week class is $160. Please call 502-253-2883 to find out if this is the right class for you and your dog.

The world can be a scary place for some of our dogs. Sounds, sights, new people, and strange places can be overwhelming. But with the right guidance and a little bit of knowledge, we can take steps to build their confidence to help them feel a little more secure in their world. This class is all about working with our worried dogs that could use a little bit of help to feel more comfortable with their surroundings. Classes are paced with their learners in mind and take a maximum of 6 dogs and their handlers. This 6-week class is $110.

Private Training – In-Person and Virtual Options

There are some behaviors that aren’t just about “sit” and “come.” Some dogs have behavior challenges that could use a little extra support, may require a specialized training plan, they may not be appropriate for a group class setting, or you may have a specific question that you would like to work on one-on-one. In some cases, private training is the best way to address certain behaviors and situations. And we are here to help!

Private Training lessons are one hour each. Single lessons are $90 and a 4-lesson package is $324. All lessons are scheduled by phone at 502-253-2883. We have both virtual and in-person options available. In-person lessons can be held at your home or at our East Campus. All lessons are followed with a written training plan and include access to your trainer by phone, email, or video chat if you need additional help between your lessons.

*Note that different dogs and behaviors may be better suited to in-person training or virtual training depending on the details of your case. Please call us at 502-253-2883 and we are happy to help you select that option that will be best for you and your dog!

  • In-Person Private Training – Your lessons can be held indoors our outdoors at your own home, in the classroom at our East Campus, or we can meet with you out in the world if appropriate to your case to address your specific goals and your dog’s behavior challenges.
  • Virtual Private Training – Through a live one-on-one video chat, a KHS trainer can meet you and your dog, see the behavior in real time, and walk you through the exercises you will need to help you and your dog reach your goals.

Puppy and Teenage Socials

The Kentucky Humane Society is now offering Puppy Socials (puppies 8-15 weeks) and “Teenage” Puppy Socials (puppies 4-6 months). This program started in 2020 when a record number of puppies found their forever home during the pandemic – and just like us, they had limited opportunities to socialize. This program has been so successful for our pups and their families that we decided to continue! All young dogs should learn how to make new friends. Living with other dogs is great but meeting new dogs is an important life skill that takes practice and early socialization is key. Proper socialization is immensely important to help ensure your puppy will grow into a happy, well-adjusted and confident dogs which helps reduce future problems such as fear, anxiety and anti-social behavior. The price for 3-week Puppy Socials is $75.

This isn’t just your pup’s regular playgroup! Puppy and “Teenage” Socials are composed of three 45-minute sessions of age-appropriate socialization exercises and off-leash play, all overseen and coached by a KHS certified behavior trainer. Your puppy or “teenager” pup will learn about sounds like a doorbell, thunder and a vacuum, have the opportunity to explore new items and textures, and learn that people in sunglasses, masks, hats and hoods aren’t spooky at all! Want to see a social in action? Watch the video below.

Call 502-253-2883 to find out if a social is the right choice for your puppy. Our Puppy and Teenage Socials take place at the KHS East Campus on Lyndon Lane. Enroll online or by phone.
