COVID-19 Pet Food Assistance Helps Needy Pets

Dog and cat food assistance is available by appointment to pet owners impacted by pandemic’s economic toll

Pet food assistance is available to qualifying pet owners who first fill out a COVID-19 Pet Food Assistance Application. The Kentucky Humane Society is no longer offering a drive-through pet food bank.

Due to staffing limitations, pet owners must first fill out the online application. A Pet Help Line counselor will call to gather information and explain the program.

“Sadly, so many local families are struggling financially right now because of job losses, and this often impacts their pets,” said Karen Koenig, Vice President of Animal Welfare. “Our goal is to help pet owners during this crisis, so they can keep their animals healthy and in their homes.”

The COVID-19 Pet Food Assistance Program has been made possible by donations from GreaterGood.org's Rescue Bank, Eukanuba Nutrition, Hill's Pet Nutrition, The Humane Society of the United States, Mister "P" Express, Inc., and local citizens.

Other Pet Food Assistance Programs

If you are struggling to feed your pet but have not been financially impacted by the COVID-19, other resources in our community include No Kill Louisville's Pet Food Bank.
