What We Do Not Treat or Provide

The Healthy Pets Clinic provides low-cost wellness examinations, vaccines and basic preventives for owned animals. The clinic only treats minor medical issues and provides diagnostics for minor illnesses and health issues. We do not treat serious illnesses or injuries, or chronic health issues.

The Kentucky Humane Society’s Healthy Pets Clinic is proud to offer low-cost animal care. However, our clinic is not a replacement for a relationship with a full-service veterinarian. For the long-term health and happiness of your pet, we recommend regular visits to a full-service veterinarian whenever possible.

The Healthy Pets Clinic does not provide health certificates, verification of spay or neuter, or verification of health, temperament or personality. We do not sign emotional support animal paperwork and do not provide verification that the animal can be on a plane or place of business. Please see your full-service veterinarian for these needs.

Canine Influenza

Our Healthy Pets Clinic offers the canine influenza vaccine. The initial dose is $27. The booster is an additional $27. (Booster should be administered 2-4 weeks after first injection.)

If your pet is showing ANY respiratory signs, such as coughing or sneezing, please do not bring your pet to the clinic. Consult your regular veterinarian for advice.

Why Create the Healthy Pets Clinic?

The Kentucky Humane Society wants to ensure that every pet owner in our community has access to basic veterinary care for dogs and cats they can afford. This is important not only to help keep owned pets healthy, but to ensure there are fewer sick animals in our community and in local shelters.

KHS discovered the need for wellness examinations through our free Pet Help Line, 502-509-4PET. One of the most common reasons people call the Pet Help Line is because they are looking for affordable veterinary care.

So often, owners are faced with the difficult choice of surrendering their animals to shelters simply because they cannot afford preventative veterinary care. The Healthy Pets Clinic helps owners keep their beloved pets by providing affordable vaccinations and preventative care—with the goal of keeping pets healthy and out of shelters.

What Happens if My Pet Needs More Help?

The Healthy Pets Clinic offers affordable vaccines and basic preventatives. If a pet exhibits the need for additional care, the Healthy Pets Clinic staff will provide a list of veterinarians by zip code and will recommend they seek additional help for their pet.
