Adult Volunteers

Adult Volunteer Opportunities at the Kentucky Humane Society

Thank you for your interest in supporting the Kentucky Humane Society as a volunteer! There are many ways to get involved, each with different levels of time commitment, training and responsibilities.

  • Visit our Volunteer Website to create a volunteer profile.
  • Once your profile is reviewed, our Volunteer Engagement Manager will email you with the next steps for attending orientation. Please allow up to 5 business days to receive this email before signing up for orientation. Be sure to check your spam folder if you do not receive an email regarding signing up for an orientation. Note: you won’t be able to register for an orientation until you’ve received this email.

Our greatest need for volunteers is dog and cat socialization/walking at our Sam Swope Pet TLC (Main Campus) location.

Other Volunteer Locations Include:

  • S.N.I.P. Clinic
  • Purrfect Day Café
  • Willow Hope Farm
  • Date with a Dog
  • Special Events

You need to attend one orientation session to get started.

Returning/Current Volunteers

Welcome back! If you’re a current or returning volunteer, you can view available shifts and stay updated on program changes on Volunteer Hub.

Having trouble logging in or returning after a break? If you’re unable to access Volunteer Hub or have questions about returning, please email us at [email protected]. Please allow up to two weeks for a response—thank you for your patience and understanding!

Been away for a while? If it’s been more than four months since you have attended orientation, completed training or volunteered, please reach out before signing up for a shift. You may need to repeat the orientation process to get re-acquainted with our procedures.

Make a meaningful impact on animals—right from home! Our At Home Packet is a fun and flexible way to support our mission, whether you’re looking to earn service hours or just want to help animals.

Here’s how it works:

  • Download the At Home Packet for step-by-step instructions.
  • Complete your projects at home.
  • Drop off your donations at our East Campus location—no appointment needed! A secure donation bin is located outside the doors and is checked multiple times during business hours. You may also drop off after business hours if you’d like.

Important Notes:

  • You do not need to create a Volunteer Hub profile to participate in the At Home Packet program.
  • If you need documentation for service hours, follow the instructions in the packet. Please allow up to 5 business days for documentation to be returned, as our Volunteer Engagement Manager handles a high volume of requests.
  • This packet is designed for students completing 30 hours or fewer of service.
