• East Campus, 1000 Lyndon Lane, Louisville, KY 40222. Visit adoptable animals 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. weekends. We are open late on Fridays in December, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Adoption applications are processed until 30 minutes before closing.
• Sam Swope Pet Treatment & Lifesaving Center (also called the Main Campus), 241 Steedly Drive, Louisville, KY 40214. Visit adoptable dogs Monday-Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on weekends. We are open late on Thursdays, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Adoption applications are processed until 30 minutes before closing.

Are you curious about why some KHS Dogs are ‘in training’?
This label is given to our pups who need a little extra support and understanding as they transition to their new homes. Our behavior team works closely with them to address specific needs, including things like shy behavior or mild anxiety.
Adopting an ‘in training’ dog includes a tailored counseling session with our experts. We’ll guide you through introductions and techniques to ensure a smooth transition for both you and your new companion. Don’t let the label intimidate you – these dogs often become the most rewarding pets with just a bit of patience and the right approach!
