Take the first step towards bringing home a new furry friend from KHS by completing an adoption interest form at kyhumane.org/adoption-interest-form. After you complete this online form, you’ll be ready to come meet our adoptable puppies and dogs. Walk-ins are always welcome at our Sam Swope Pet TLC (241 Steedly Drive) and East Campus (1000 Lyndon Lane). If you don’t meet the perfect pet for you during your first visit, please come back; we welcome new animals to KHS daily!
**Please note: Completing this form DOES NOT put a specific dog on hold or guarantee adoption. Forms are valid for 6 months and apply to one animal adoption.

• East Campus, 1000 Lyndon Lane, Louisville, KY 40222. Visit adoptable animals 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. weekends. Adoption applications are processed until 30 minutes before closing.
• Sam Swope Pet Treatment & Lifesaving Center (also called the Main Campus), 241 Steedly Drive, Louisville, KY 40214. Visit adoptable dogs Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on weekends. Adoption applications are processed until 30 minutes before closing.

Are you curious about why some KHS Dogs are ‘in training’?
This label is given to our pups who need a little extra support and understanding as they transition to their new homes. Our behavior team works closely with them to address specific needs, including things like shy behavior or mild anxiety.
Adopting an ‘in training’ dog includes a tailored counseling session with our experts. We’ll guide you through introductions and techniques to ensure a smooth transition for both you and your new companion. Don’t let the label intimidate you – these dogs often become the most rewarding pets with just a bit of patience and the right approach!
Interested in an ‘in training’ dog? We require a pre-adoption application to ensure that you and the pup will make a great match. Let’s work together to give these deserving dogs their happily ever after!
