We are open for adoptions seven days a week with no appointments required. Visit adoptable dogs and cats Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on weekends. We also offer extended hours every Thursday from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Adoption applications are processed until 30 minutes before closing. More info

The last day of adoptions at East Campus was July 26, 2026. Our Sam Swope Pet Treatment and Lifesaving Center remains open for adoptions until we transition to our new campus off Preston Highway in 2027. We hope you’ll visit us at 241 Steedly Drive to find your next furry family member!
Monetary donations are still gratefully accepted at 1000 Lyndon Lane, Suite B, Louisville, KY 40222. Members of our administration continue to work in this location and can receive mail. Physical wish list donations can be dropped off at 241 Steedly Drive.

Admissions: Admissions for incoming animals is by appointment Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. KHS can only accept animals as space allows; we cannot guarantee we can take your animal. Admissions only occur at the Sam Swope Pet TLC on Steedly Drive, not our adoption sites.
