Ethan Named 2022 American Hero Dog!

We are thrilled to announce that our very own Ethan has been named the 2022 American Hero Dog! More than one million people across the country voted in American Humane’s 12th annual American Hero Dog Awards competition to recognize extraordinary canines. This year, they chose Ethan for his remarkable journey of hope and heroic work to bring attention to the millions of homeless shelter animals who are just as deserving of second chances. Ethan received his award with his “poppa” Jeff Callaway at the Hero Dog Awards gala in Palm Beach, Florida last Friday.

It’s been almost two years since Ethan was dumped in KHS’ parking lot on a cold January day, so close to death from starvation that he couldn’t lift his head or eat or drink on his own. We are so grateful to all of you who have rooted for Ethan from the beginning, and who continue to celebrate this genuine hero for sharing his spotlight with homeless shelter animals.

Please help us celebrate by donating in Ethan’s honor to give hope to the thousands of other animals who come through our doors each year. Thanks to a matching gift from Petco Love, donations are DOUBLED up to $40,000 this holiday season to help save even more animals!

Nearly 400 remarkable pups were nominated in this year’s Hero Dog campaign. Ethan was first named the winner in his individual category – the 2022 Shelter Hero Dog – before winning the coveted title of American Hero Dog.

Be sure to tune in as Ethan and other category winners are featured in the Hero Dog Awards broadcast, hosted by Emmy-winning television star Carson Kressley, on the Circle Network on December 6 at 9 p.m. ET.
