Donate on Sept. 17 to Help Needy Animals!
Kona and her puppies found themselves in a desperate situation. Kona was very underweight and could barely care for her puppies. Worse, she was abandoned at an overcrowded animal shelter – and Hurricane Ida was fast approaching. Soon, much of southern Louisiana was engulfed in the hurricane, bracing for 100-mile-an-hour winds, flooding and blackouts.
But luckily for Kona and her little ones, they were transported out in the nick of time and brought to the Kentucky Humane Society in Louisville. Kona and her babies are now in a loving foster home where they are gaining weight and getting stronger every day. Soon Kona and her puppies will be ready to be adopted by local families.
Every day of the week, the Kentucky Humane Society takes in homeless dogs, cats and horses. We help not only animals in Jefferson County but throughout Kentucky. And in times of disaster such as hurricanes, fires or tornadoes, we make room for needy animals from other areas, too. With your help, we heal their bodies and hearts.
A Day of Giving on Sept. 17
Give for Good Louisville – our city’s single biggest day for giving – is Friday, September 17. On that day, we ask you to please give to the Kentucky Humane Society. Your donations will let us compete for additional funds offered by the Community Foundation of Louisville. On Friday, will you remember the Kentucky Humane Society by visiting our Give for Good Louisville page?
We thank you, and Kona thanks you, for the support you have given us in the past and now.
Help Us Reach a $20,000 Match!

Help us meet this match and help more animals by donating on September 17! To qualify for the match, donations must be on September 17, 2021 – earlier donations will not count toward this challenge.
