Our annual Hay Bale Heroes campaign is underway and we need your help stocking the lofts at our Willow Hope Farm with a year’s worth of hay. The average cost for a year’s worth of hay for a farm of our size is upwards of $30,000. While this is a lofty goal, we know our community will stand behind us in support of the incredible rescue horses we work with each day – including horses like Stella.
Just three months ago, Stella was rescued from the mountains of Eastern Kentucky in horrific shape. She was emaciated after living with an untreated parasite infestation and extremely sharp teeth for an unknown amount of time. Despite being feral and untrained, we set out to collect her and bring her to the farm for rehabilitation. With nutrient-dense hay and some patience, we were able to get Stella back in good health. She’s now healthy enough to begin training, all thanks to our 2024 Hay Bale Heroes who made sure we were well-stocked with plenty of nutritious food. Stella will need a loving hand to guide her through training before she eventually becomes adoptable. But for now, she’s safe and sound at Willow Hope Farm where she will never be without food again.
