Injured Pomeranian Arrives At KHS

Gavin Needs Your Support 7/31/2025

Gavin recently arrived at our Sam Swope Pet Treatment and Lifesaving Center in desperate need of tender loving care. His left rear leg is severely injured, leaving him unable to bear weight or walk comfortably. He also has a sore at the base of his tail and scrapes along his right leg, leading us to believe he may have been hit by a car and left to fend for himself. X-rays revealed that Gavin’s left femur is dislocated from his pelvis. We also found evidence of his body’s unsuccessful attempt to heal his injury, leading us to believe he’s gone untreated for quite some time.

Gavin will soon undergo amputation surgery to remove his back left leg. We are hopeful this will ensure his full recovery while also relieving him from his ongoing pain. He is being given daily rounds of pain medication to keep him comfortable, and is also receiving preventative antibiotics to avoid any potential infection from setting in. We will update you on his progress but in the meantime, please donate in Gavin’s honor. Your gift ensures we’re able to support every broken, abandoned and neglected animal who comes through our doors in need of help. Thank you for caring!
