KHS Staff Rescues Scared Dog

Pets Like Pat Need Your Support

Sweet Pat was found by a staff member who was heading home after a long day’s work. He was lethargic, scared and clearly needed some tender loving care. So she turned around, brought him to our Sam Swope Pet Treatment & Lifesaving Center, and set him up for a “sleepover” in a staff member’s office until he could be seen by our veterinarian the next morning.

We think Pat has likely been fending for himself for quite a while. He had a severe ear infection and fleas all over his body. Hook and whipworms are also wreaking havoc on his GI tract, which further explains the lethargy we’ve noticed. But the good news is now that we have an explanation for his symptoms, we can get Pat started on the road to recovery.

Pat’s currently snuggled up next to a staff member and already has multiple medications in his system to combat everything he’s got going on. We’re hopeful he’ll make a quick recovery but until then, consider donating to support emergency care for animals like Pat at kyhumane.org/donate. Together, we can make sure every animal who needs us gets the compassionate care they deserve.
