November 2026 Animal & Community Campus Update

We’re excited to share another ALL IN campaign update and celebrate the incredible progress we’re making together toward creating the Kentucky Humane Society’s new Animal & Community Campus. Thanks to your generosity and the support of so many others, we’ve reached $29.4 million toward our $37 million campaign goal! We’re continuing to make fundraising progress every day and are so grateful for everyone helping bring this vision to life.

As we get closer to our goal, we want to share stories from some of the people who are helping make this vision a reality. Today, we’re highlighting KHS Board Chair-Elect Landon Brantley and his wife, Emily, whose personal experiences with their own pets have shaped their commitment to this campaign.

Landon and Emily became involved with KHS five years ago after touring our Sam Swope Pet TLC and witnessing incredible work being done in a small, outdated space. While on their tour, they also visited our CARE-a-van, an initiative they quickly became passionate about supporting. This mobile veterinary clinic reaches loving pet guardians across Kentucky and serves as a true lifeline for families and pets who may not have access to affordable vet care.

Landon and Emily wholeheartedly believe in the vision for our new Animal & Community Campus. They’re especially proud to support the new Pet Retention Center, which will offer resources and affordable veterinary care for pets in our community.

For Landon, this mission is also personal. He lost his childhood dog Simba to a tragic accident, after his family was faced with the difficult reality of how extensive and costly recovery is. Years later, when his dog Charlie was involved in an accident that resulted in a broken leg, he understood firsthand how overwhelming those circumstances could be. While he was fortunate to be able to afford Charlie’s care, he knew that the cost of unexpected veterinary care could be out of reach for many other families. His hope is that KHS will be able to help more people and their pets access the care they need, even when they can’t afford it.

As Landon shared, “If you love animals and believe families should be able to keep the pets they love, this is a rare chance to help build something lasting for our whole community. We went ALL IN and encourage you to do the same.”

We’re so grateful to Landon and Emily for their commitment to KHS and for sharing a glimpse into why this work matters so much to them. Their story is a reminder that this campus is more than a new building. It will expand access to care, keep pets with the people who love them, and create a stronger future for animals and families across Kentucky.

Be sure to check out the latest drone footage below for a look at the construction progress and how far we’ve come. Every milestone brings us one step closer to welcoming animals, families and our community into this new space.

Thank you for being part of this campaign and for helping bring this vision closer to reality. We’re so grateful to have you ALL IN with us!
