Puppy in Critical Condition at KHS

Olive Needs Your Support

Olive, a three-month-old puppy, recently arrived at our Sam Swope Pet Treatment and Lifesaving Center with a critical case of demodectic mange – a skin condition caused by mites infesting an animal’s hair follicles. Her skin is painfully inflamed and red, leaving her extremely itchy and covered in scale-like scabs. To make matters even worse, Olive’s eyes are swollen shut. We believe she may have bilateral entropion – a condition that causes the eyelid to turn inward – but will not be able to further examine her eyes until her skin is less painful.

This poor baby will undergo extensive treatment over the next few weeks, but keeping her comfortable is our top priority. She is being given daily rounds of pain medication and antibiotics, and we cover her skin in medicated ointment multiple times per day. It’s vital that we support Olive’s immune system while her body is in this vulnerable state. She will likely require surgery to repair her eyes once her condition stabilizes but for now, we are showering this sweet puppy in the tender loving care she’s clearly been missing out on. Please donate today to support puppies like Olive in their times of need. Together, we can be there for every animal who comes through our doors in need of our help.
