Special Needs Kitten Needs Your Support

Bilateral Eye Removal Saves JJ’s Life

Kitten season always brings a slew of babies in need to the Kentucky Humane Society, but JJ is different. At just one month old and weighing less than a pound, she had to undergo an emergency double eye enucleation when both of her eyes ruptured due to untreated infections. Though surgery was risky because of her size, it saved her life.

JJ is recovering from surgery and is now in a foster home with an experienced staff member who is dutifully tracking her weight gain and providing her with daily rounds of medication. Her foster mom reports that despite her differences, JJ is an otherwise normal, curious kitten. She’s learning to follow her ears and nose now that she can’t see, and maintains an incredible sense of bravery when meeting new people.

JJ will continue to grow bigger and stronger in her foster home, and will surely keep impressing us with her resilience along the way. But she isn’t the only kitten who will arrive at KHS on the brink of death this year, and we need your help preparing for them. Donate in JJ’s honor today and your gift will help ensure we’re able to provide emergency medical care to every vulnerable pet who comes through our doors in need of help.
