Kevin Needs Your Help 5/6/2026

Kevin recently arrived at the Kentucky Humane Society after fending for himself for quite some time. He’s itchy, uncomfortable and covered in hair loss. Kevin is suffering from demodectic mange (demodex), a mite infestation that weakens the immune system and attacks hair follicles. He’s riddled with red, irritated patches of hair loss that are extremely itchy and infected, with some spots scabbing over because of how much he’s been scratching. Our hearts break thinking about this poor boy living in this condition without any relief in sight.

At our Sam Swope Pet Treatment & Lifesaving Center, we are doing everything we can to kickstart Kevin’s recovery. He is on multiple topical, oral and injectable medications that aim to treat his fungal and bacterial infections, along with his inflammation and pain. He will also receive frequent medicated baths to further assist his healing. Once a foster home is secured, Kevin will take a break from shelter life and, hopefully, the added peace and quiet will speed up his healing even more. We’re grateful he’s now at KHS and when he leans into pets, we can tell he feels the same way.

Scared, neglected and abandoned animals like Kevin arrive at KHS every day. By donating in his honor, you help ensure that we can welcome each and every one of them with open arms. Thank you for keeping Kevin in your thoughts and for caring so deeply about animals like him!
