Our amazing veterinarian, Dr. Bewley, knew about a special surgery called a lip commissure to eyelid transposition that could help Jewel. This procedure uses a portion of the upper lip to create a new eyelid, giving Jewel a second chance at a comfortable, healthy life. It does not impact the health of the mouth or Jewel’s ability to eat, and the new eyelid prevents persistent pain and risk of blindness! Jewel is now recovering in a loving foster home and in just a few weeks, she is expected to be able to blink and use her right eye just as any other cat does.
