The Kentucky Humane Society has been a part of this community for generations. We envision a future where every companion animal has the care, resources and lifelong home they deserve, and all families have support to keep their pets healthy and safe.
As a part of this vision, we launched our ALL IN Campaign to build a new Animal & Community Campus that will serve even more pets and the people who love them. This campus will have 30% more animal housing, a public veterinary clinic and free pet counseling and resources for thousands of people in need.
We are committed to this transformational project and recently broke ground on the new facility, slated to open in 2027 off Preston Highway near the I-264/I-65 interchange. As a part of the process to get most of our people, animals and programs under one roof, we knew we would sell some of our existing properties in phases. Last year, we sold our Behavior Retreat and Eastpoint Pet Resort. This summer, we will sell our East Campus (located at 1000 Lyndon Lane). That means the last day of adoptions at our East Campus will be July 26, 2026.
Over the years, our East Campus has helped thousands of animals find loving homes. Its closure is not a reflection of the incredible work done, but rather a strategic step forward as we prepare for the next chapter of KHS. By selling this property, we are able to put the funds toward a brand new 54,000 square foot facility that will allow us to serve even more animals and people in our community.
While our East Campus location will close, our Sam Swope Pet Treatment and Lifesaving Center will remain open for adoptions until we transition to our new campus off Preston Highway in 2027. We hope you’ll visit us at 241 Steedly Drive to find your next furry family member!
Thank you for your continued support of Kentucky Humane Society. Together, we are building something truly special for the animals and people of Kentucky!
