A Bittersweet Bambi Update

When we last spoke to you about Bambi, we hoped that our next update would showcase further progress. Unfortunately, her weight gain has come to a full stop regardless of the medications, foods and other treatments we have tried. Despite this, Bambi maintains her sunny disposition and a zest for life that we rarely see from other 14-year-old dogs. With her quality of life at the forefront of our minds, we have decided to release Bambi from treatment and enter her into our Fospice program (short for foster hospice) so that she can live the rest of her life surrounded by love.

Animals in our Fospice Program have limited lifespans due to age or terminal illness, but still maintain a good quality of life. KHS pays for their medical care and monitors their health for the remainder of their lives, meaning Bambi will still have access to the KHS veterinary team, along with any other resources she may need to remain comfortable and happy. Most importantly, she’ll be able to live a normal life where she goes to parks, enjoys afternoon naps in the sun, and snacks on anything her little heart desires. She’s already settled into this newfound spoiled lifestyle and seems quite smitten with her foster family!

Bambi is happy and care-free in her Fospice home, just as she deserves to be. Though we wish dogs could live forever, we find comfort in knowing that the rest of Bambi’s life will be comfortable and full of compassionate care. She’ll never be abandoned or discarded ever again, all thanks to supporters like you.

Donate in Bambi’s honor today and your gift will support KHS programs like Fospice, so that our community’s most vulnerable animals are surrounded by love in their final moments.
